MarketingProfs: Outsourced Creative Services

Surpassing revenue targets since 2009

The Need

MarketingProfs is one of the largest providers of online and in-person marketing training in the US, serving more than 650,000 professional marketers. They have a wide range of products that they promote through online and print channels to many different audiences (both individuals and businesses). Each week they send millions of targeted emails and promote their offerings through social media posts and PPC ads. While they have a marketing staff, they do not employ in-house creative services or designers for their ever-changing campaigns.

The Challenges

Fast-paced demands across multiple business units, with multiple practice managers and decision-makers requires creative service vendors that can offer flexibility, rapid response, organization, attention to detail and throughout it all, a high level of customer service. Working among other outsourced creative services teams as well requires strong cooperative and communication skills.

The Results

For 6 years and counting, Kilroy Creative has been providing high level creative services for some of MarketingProfs’ highest revenue generating business units. Services have ranged from fully branded campaigns for events, sales, and training courses to quick one-off ads; projects range from business-to-business sales collateral and website design to consumer-oriented social media campaigns and drip email campaigns. Kilroy’s work consistently meets and exceeds targeted goals while receiving high praise from MarketingProfs staff as well as their clients and consumers alike.

Zero Energy Systems: A Brand Refresh

Messaging and design to redefine a brand and an industry

The Need

Zero Energy Systems has set out to revolutionize residential and commercial building. Through development of proprietary precision-guided design software and state-of-the-art construction facilities, ZES manufactures and delivers pre-made insulated concrete wall panels for a fraction of the cost and time it takes using traditional methods. After years of marketing their products, they realized their message was unclear and value proposition diluted. Their corporate website looked much like other competitors in the industry and certainly didn’t set them apart. They needed a brand refresh in the form of a new website and slip sheets to clearly introduce and illustrate the unique benefits of their cutting-edge technology and products to an industry reliant upon age-old methods. In addition, they wanted the freedom to update their product specifications in-house, saving them the time and expense of hiring vendors to make minor changes.

The Challenges

ZES not only needed to completely set themselves apart from their competition but also address two different audiences: 1 – their construction partners and developer clients (who use and vouch for the products) and 2 – the ultimate end-users, the building owners who approve and pay for the materials and buy into buildings constructed with them. Equally critical was to introduce this new product concept quickly and clearly with a value proposition that compelled action. ZES wanted to make sure all of the key benefits were addressed on the home page and easily identifiable at-a-glance.

The Results

Kilroy Creative produced a website with finely-tuned messages for both key audiences and created graphics and custom illustrations to give viewers an immediate and clear understanding of the game-changing product. We used select keywords and imagery to communicate and reinforce the company’s ethos of utilizing technology to create a better, environmentally-conscious, efficient and reliable product in contrast to their competitors. We built the website using WordPress, the most popular and well-supported content management system available, to allow ZES to manage their own content updates. ZES was thrilled with the brand refresh and even more pleased to have total control over their own website content to rapidly update new product specifications.

“I have to say, I’m blown away. Nice job, guys! I am very impressed with how we finally look.” – Scott Long, President

Barker & Scott: Outsourced Marketing Services

Marketing and design services, on-demand

The Need

Barker & Scott is a boutique consultancy for non-profit clients. With deep roots in the non-profit world, the partners help non-profits bridge technology, processes, and people to efficiently and effectively fulfill their missions. With expanding offerings and new partners, they needed a range of marketing communications and design help starting with new messaging and website copy for old and new business units, a new website to allow them the day-to-day freedom to make updates, a logo refresh, and a content marketing plan.

The Challenge

Barker & Scott had developed a stellar reputation in the world of non-profits, working with some of the most recognizable brands in the world. With an established brand in place, it was critical that their refreshed logo, message, and website didn’t negatively impact their hard-earned gains and brand equity. A careful balance was needed to maintain the essence of their established corporate character, while introducing the progress, growth, and maturity of the evolving company and offerings. Complicating this effort was the need to infuse the typically staid topics of their industry with the personality of their corporate culture, which is grounded in commitment, warmth, accessibility, and passion.

The Results

Kilroy Creative refreshed Barker & Scott’s logo while preserving the elements that were cherished and recognizable, provided high-level messaging to communicate their new offering and positioning, produced website content and a new website design (in WordPress, so they can make their own content updates), and executed a content marketing plan that included an enewsletter, email campaign, and on-going blog posts. Their new brand, website, and email marketing campaigns clearly express the true nature of the company and the value proposition for their non-profit clients. We continue to work with Barker & Scott on an as-needed basis, effectively functioning as their outsourced marketing team.

“Can I clone you? If I could keep a mini version of you each in my back pocket I’d wield such power!” – Lisa Scott, Co-founder & Principal

“We truly see you as an extended part of our team” – Doug Barker, Co-founder & Principal
